A member of the church visited the pastor’s office. She spoke, “Pastor, you claim to be a Christian and, yet, speak of God revealing Himself in other religions and spiritual paths. That does not make sense to me.” “What is the problem?,” inquired the pastor. The lady said, “It seems to me you cannot really be a Christian and believe that way.” Spoke the pastor, “I believe that way precisely because I am a Christian.” The woman left quite befuddled.
The experiential realization of the cosmic presence of Christ leads us not from absolute devotion to Christ, but it surely does lead us from absolute devotion to Christianity, and a particular version, even Christian version, of Christ.
Some adore a ray of the Light, I kiss the Sun. To see God here is To see God everywhere. Enjoying the Rose, I am awakened to the whole Garden.
